Useing the Rifts Adventure Guide(Let me know if you don't have it.) I've done a write up of the party and where I would like to see the party go.
Currently we are Size: Gathering Sponsorship: None A. Dress: None, 0 points B. Equipment: None, 0 points C. Vehicles: None, 0 points D. Weapons: None, 0 points E. Power Armor & Robots: None, 0 points F. Communications: None, 0 points G. Security: None, 0 points H. Headquarters: Fortified Mansion, 20 points I. Intelligence: Underworld Contact(Psykes and the Guild of the Gifted), 10 points J. Monthly Budget: None, 0 points K. General Alighnment: Anarchist, 2 points L. Criminal Activity: Assassins(Ringo, Heather & Sammy), 10 points Prostitutes(Aliza, Tanya...), 5 points M. Reputation: Unknown(although individual members are known), 5 points N. Monthly Salary: None, 0 points O. Special: Nothing currently, 0 points P. Disadvantages: Vengeful enemy(Anna Maria, Heather and possibly Ringo have these), +10 points Total: 54 points spent out of 70.
Meaning that we have a nice pad and not much else. I personally want to build us up to the following. Size: Syndicate Sponsorship: None A. Dress: Good, 10 points B. Equipment: Electronic supplies and good Gear, 10 points C. Vehicles: Ground Vehicle Fleet, 10 points D. Weapons: Well Equipped, 10 points E. Power Armor & Robots: Basic Power Armor, 15 points F. Communications: Secured Service, 10 points G. Security: Secure, 20 points H. Headquarters: Fortified Mansion, 20 points I. Intelligence: Underworld Contact(Psykes and the Guild of the Gifted), 10 points Spies,10 points J. Monthly Budget: Reasonable, 10 points K. General Alighnment: Anarchist, 2 points L. Criminal Activity: Assassins(Ringo, Heather & Sammy), 10 points Prostitutes(Aliza, Tanya...), 5 points Drug Master(Marijuana and opium),15 points Soldiers of Fortune(Heather's mercs), 8 points M. Reputation: Known, 10 points N. Monthly Salary: Good, 20 points O. Special: Nothing currently, 0 points P. Disadvantages: Vengeful enemy(Anna Maria, Heather and possibly Ringo have these), +10 points Total: 205 points
Now this is just how I would like us to grow, but I would like imput from everyone in the group. Who's to say that someone else has an Idea that the group as a whole likes better.

While I am not one to usually discourage peoples creative ideas, and am more often willing to work around ideas with folks to help flesh them out and give them life...
I can only say if this is the direction the group is headed, Elexorien will not be a part of it for much longer...

To be honest, i'm not entirely sure why Elexorien was with the group in the first place

That's why the PCs are figuring this out.

I'm just using the syndicate rules to figure out where we are as a group and where we may be going as a group. As it is we are mostly bad people inadvertantly doing good things for the most part. What Elex does not realize is that he can act as a positive influance on the group and sometimes the toughest fights are not the ones fought with fist and blade. Still what would ultimatly be more heroic of Elex, abandoning the group or guiding the group into becomming better people and ultimatly helping to clean up Juarez?

I am not arguing that point, and it is a good point, don't get me wrong. If Elex could inspire heroism among the group, it would be a step in the right direction.
However, I have noted, that several of the NPC's and PC's view Elexorien with... something. I'm not sure if it's fear or what. But he doesn't inspire heroism.
I realized a while back when I started playing our resident cyber-knight, that he's... somewhat undeveloped, personality wise. Not to mention the fact that he follows some many sets of code (The Code of Chivalry, The Code of Bushido as well as his philosophical leanings towards Zen), that he has become something of a ronin, even among the group.
Now, in recent games I have been looking for ways for him to become... more human. Considering he's more of a killing machine than any individual character in the game. I am hopeful though that as the game progresses, he will improve, maybe even become friends with the other players.
However, right now, the group doesn't much trust him, considering his actions. Hell, half the player group attacked him after his little fight with Ringo... Even though Elex practically begged him to stop, multiple times.
It's difficult with the group we have, I know. Cause we have such a motley crew of misfits, ranging from honorable good to selfish to downright self destructive. So... where's the happy middle ground?
Neky actually suggested that Elex join a vampire hunting group, or become a mercenary. A blade for hire as it were. Now, I don't see Elex being a merc. He's just not that selfish. Getting paid to kill people. Especially considering how much it hurts him to kill. But, the idea of this "syndicate" still has merit.
Elex doesn't have to change the group, it's not his style anyway. He just has to come to accept that not everyone can aspire to the code he holds dear. But that doesn't necessarily make them bad people, it just makes them people.

Yeah, Ringo started that fight and refused to back down. Elex couldn't help that.

Yeah, it's a tricky situation.
Tanja doesn't dislike or distrust Elex; if you ever want to have him talk to her, maybe she could try to encourage him; she could definitely use lessons from an expert if she's going to get into violent situations like the recent one with the slavers.

Heather acctually likes Elex and enjoys having him around. He's young and a bit of an idealist sure but he's the one person among us who can be counted on to do the right thing because it's right. As for hand to hand combat lessons...Sammy's knife training starts when we get back to the house. A section of the barn will be roped off and something like a Shock Knife will be used. There will be important lessons taught that day.

Actually, there's no one in the group who distrusts Elex. We trust him implicity: To do a good thing to right a wrong at the wrong time and get himself killed.

Actually, there's no one in the group who distrusts Elex. We trust him implicity: To do a good thing to right a wrong at the wrong time and get himself killed. How terribly pessimistic, eh? Doing the right thing always comes at risk. But the point is that a person not simply allow wrongs to be done and do nothing to try and stop it. I am reminded of a quote, "Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men." Sure, it comes from a movie, but so what? The lesson is still a good one. If a good man merely lets evil happen, he is no better than the one commiting that evil. Though, if it isn't obvious already, Elex is one tough customer and it'll take quite a bit to actually get him killed. I'm sure another good line is"Discretion is the better part of valor" which roughly translated means could mean, "Run away and live to fight another day." Elex doesn't plan on dying for something stupid, but he's a cyber-knight. The crappy thing about being a good guy is that you try to do the right thing, rather than sit back and do nothing.

He ought to explain that to Tanja sometime. She's picked up the impression from him that being a goody two shoes is all about negatives, all about stuff you don't do. She would be much more impressed by that explanation of his philosophy ^.^

There is much time for talk before the group gets to the meet point.

I know this thread is really dated so unless anyone else wants to do more than input ideas as to where they want the game to go I am going to do a revised state of the party and where i see it going.

There are actually several other tables I have found that might be more fitting. Though I can't put a foot on it really... since they aren't really a Merc Company, per say. Admittedly, some of them have the hearts of mercenaries...

we could allways modify the various creation table rules to create a custom writeup. I'm just using the syndicate rules as a set of guidelines. some individual members toss the tables out on their ear. Still as a baseline some things work better than others.
I know there are creation tables in:
Rifts Adventure sourcebook Villans Unlimited Boxed Nightmares Nightbane Survival guide Rifter # 6 (probable origion of the syndicate createion tables in the Rifts adventure guide.)
My thoughts are that we should just strip those tables for ideas on a baseline for the group and what we can offer as a group.

I think the easiest one we could use is the "Secret Base Creation" tables that are in Rifter 37. We could roll it up as a collective deal among the ones of us who are actively trying to build the mansion into something... worthwhile. That would probably be Elex, Silvie, Anna and LG... Yes?
That would probably the, potentially, easiest way of going about doing things.

I've just ordered that Rifter and will have it wensday. As soon as i get home from work I'll post how the group looks as far as syndicates go.
Unfortunatly as you have pointed out PC groups do not fit the various organization charts very well.

fuck. I can't find my adv. guide or the few Rifters I own. Anyways, Hector was there for about 3 months before reverting to his old lifestyle. The few things he thought were achievable left, but primarily you can take the rat out of the sewer but you can't take the sewer out of the rat. Jocelyn is a mercenary but tired of drifting and could very well find a place in the group depending how well things go in the desert.

Silvie is a mercenary/Bounty Hunter trying to get a nice start out of life(and currently failing miserably at being something other than a selfish bitch or so she's being told.) Still she would love a place of her own and some fun in life.
