I got the main book with the Christmas grab bag, and finally decided to get the two other source books. What's everyone else's take on the game?

Well as written the game is unsurvivable by PCs.
First off a 20 year SAS vetran has the same chance of headshooting a zombie (15%) as Suzie Q. Girlscout who has never touched a weapon in her life.
Yes I am talking about the new "headshot" rule.
IRL the SAS vetran should be making 15m headshots with a handgun at a dead run and headshots with a rifle out to the effective range of the weapon.
Next is the Zombie AR and the damage reduction if using anything other than a BFG. Now There have been tests of ammo on Human Cadavers before we had an effective, realistic human tissue substitue. The basic finding is that flesh be it living or dead reacts the exact same way if it is shot. Basically an M16 will blow big holes in both the living or the dead. The AR was ment to portray the zombies seeming to not notice damage inflicted on them. I personally refuse to impliment the AR as Zombies as an individual creature are supost to be weak and easily killed. the problem is that zombies form hordes and those hordes have to be killed off to make them stop. the larger the horde the larger the problem. My take on zombies is that they are effectivly a problem like bad weather. Not something that can be totally avoided but can be delt with if you prepare beforehand. I'll write more latter.

I was thinking similar things, but having run through a game yet I didnt know of there were any unforeseen problems. I also picked up a copy of Rifter 45 where DR is supposed to have poked its head out. A few house rules are a given with any Palladium game, so issues with headshots doesnt suprise me.

I just took a run through Rifter 40, and there are a few other game mechanics I think I'll try and keep. The save vs magic from a bite being one of them. ;D
